Moonlark Theatrical Productions
Each year, Moonlark engages in two significant theatrical projects. In the spring, we produce our annual Spring Classic - usually a work by Shakespeare or Moliere. Later in the summer, Moonlark holds its annual Summer Drama Workshop. Listed below are photo albums from previous productions.

  • As You Like It - 2005
  • Cymbaline - 2004
  • Two Noble Kinsmen - 2002
  • All in the Timing - Summer 2000
  • Pericles - Spring 2000
  • A Winter's Tale - 1999
  • Poetry and Creative Writing

From teaching writing classes to hosting poetry readings, Moonlark has had a long history of involvment in the literary scene of the Feliciana and Baton Rouge areas. Ray Sibley, Moonlark's Artistic Director founded the Baton Rouge Poetry Slam in 1998, and Moonlark ran the Slam for many years, before turning it over to the Poetry Alliance.

Displayed here are pictures from several years worth of poetry slams, including six years of National Poetry Slam pictures featuring the Baton Rouge Slam Team.

This is a play about a Viet Nam veteran who suffered PTSD from his wartime experiences. The consequences upon returning from the war and trying to re-integrate into society and normalcy are detailed in the stories told by himself, his wife, and a friend. This play is a docu-drama and the the characters are not fictional. The stories these three characters tell are drawn from interviews conducted by Emily Mann and compiled and arranged by her to create this work that won six Obie Awards.

    New Moonlark Project

Hey, everyone. Life is good and the storm didn't slow anything down much. Ethel took a good hit, but no damage to the Theatre or house. Moonlark is starting its new play for this year: Six Characters in Search of an Author by Pirandello. Auditions and rehearsals will be held in Baton Rouge this time with the shows around town and at the Moonlark Theatre in Ethel. I'll post the audition dates and times soon. Anyone interested call 225-278-0776.

    Peace & Love,

Hi, all. After some problems, I have gotten the website pretty much completely back on line. I'm still working on a few minor things (pics of the theater, for example), but you should be able to navigate the site with no problems. If you have any questions or problems, please shoot me an email: mike.melancon@moonlark.org.

    The Moonlark Theater

Moonlark Theater Moonlark Productions' most ambitious project is the contruction of the Moonlark Theater. A large, sturdy structure of heavy steel and planks, it is designed to be a flexible, durable performance space. Construction has been slow and steady, with a dedicated team of volunteers providing the labor. We always welcome new volunteers, so if you'd like to come out and help, or even just come and see the theater, please contact Ray.
