"To sing a song that old was sung, From ashes, ancient Gower has come..."
|
Pericles, one of William Shakespeare's lesser known plays, was based on 16th century English poet John Gower’s Confessio Amantis, and is a complex tale of betrayal, slavery and family relationships in the Middle East. The tale is narrated by Gower's ghost. In March, 2000, the Feliciana School for the Performing Arts (the educational arm of Moonlark Productions) presented the play at Hemingbough, a sprawling complex of gardens and parks outside of St. Francisville, Louisiana. |
