The Baton Rouge Poetry Slam is held Thursdays from 7:00-9:00PM at the SPANISH MOON at 1109 Highland Road, between LSU and downtown.

Every slam is an "open" slam, meaning *anyone* can bring an original poem and perform it for the audience.

Come join slamMasters Kate Makkai, Xero, Mona Webb and all of the amazing regional poets and lovers of poetry for these artistic extravaganzas.

DIRECTIONS
From LSU: - drive north on Highland Road, towards downtown. The Spanish Moon is between Julia and Myrtle, just before the I-10 bridge.

From I-10 East: Take I-10 west, merge on to I-110 north and exit at Government Street. Turn left on Government, go about 1/2 mile, and turn left (just before the Centroplex) on St. Ferdinand. St. Ferdinand turns into Highland Road at the I-10 bridge, and the Spanish Moon is just past the bridge on the left, between Myrtle and Julia.
From North of Baton Rouge (Baker, Zachary, Ethel, etc.) Take I-110 south, and exit at Government Street (note - it's a left-lane exit!). Turn right on Government, go about 1/2 mile, and turn left (just before the Centroplex) on St. Ferdinand. See the directions above ("I-10 east").

From I-10 West (Port Allen, Plaquemine, Lafayette, Houston, Austin, LA...)Cross the I-10 bridge into Baton Rouge, and while you're still on the bridge, take the Highland/Nicholson exit. This will drop you on Highland Road just south of the Spanish Moon. Look over your left shoulder. You should see the Spanish Moon.
